Publication Ethics

An-Nuha: Journal of Social & Humanities is committed to upholding high standards of publication ethics to ensure the quality and integrity of published articles. This publication ethics statement is based on the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and covers the responsibilities of authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

Authors' Responsibilities:

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors warrant that the submitted manuscript is their original work and has not been published elsewhere, in whole or in part, in any language, except in the form of an abstract or as part of a thesis or dissertation. Authors must avoid plagiarism in all its forms. Quotations and paraphrases from other works must be properly acknowledged through appropriate citations and references.
  • Access to Data and Retention: Authors should provide access to their research data if requested by the editors or reviewers for verification purposes. Authors should also retain their research data for a reasonable period after publication.
  • Authorship: Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the research. All listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and be responsible for its content. Authors who contributed significantly should be listed as authors, and those who made minor contributions should be acknowledged in the acknowledgments section.
  • Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may influence the interpretation of their research results, whether financial or non-financial.
  • Errors in Published Works: If authors discover significant errors in their published work, they are obligated to immediately notify the journal's editors and cooperate with the editors to retract or correct the article.
  • Dual Submission: Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently.

Editors' Responsibilities:

  • Publication Decisions: Editors are responsible for deciding which articles will be published in the journal. These decisions are based on the manuscript's scientific validity, significance, originality, and suitability to the journal's focus and scope.
  • Peer Review: Editors must ensure that the peer review process is conducted fairly and objectively. Editors should select reviewers who are experts in the relevant field and avoid conflicts of interest.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must maintain the confidentiality of information related to submitted manuscripts, including the identities of authors and reviewers.
  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest they may have.
  • Handling of Suspected Ethical Violations: Editors must take reasonable steps to handle suspected violations of publication ethics, such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or image manipulation.

Reviewers' Responsibilities:

  • Objectivity: Reviewers must conduct reviews objectively and provide assessments based on the manuscript's scientific quality, not based on personal biases.
  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of information related to the manuscripts they review.
  • Timeliness: Reviewers should provide reviews within the agreed-upon timeframe.
  • Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest they may have.

Publisher's Responsibilities:

  • Support for Editors: The publisher must support the editors in performing their duties and ensure editorial independence.
  • Integrity of the Academic Record: The publisher must ensure the integrity of the academic record by publishing corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when necessary.
  • Access to Journal Archives: The publisher must ensure permanent access to the journal archives.
