Peer Review Process

An-Nuha: Journal of Social & Humanities employs a double-blind peer review system, where the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential from each other. This process aims to ensure objectivity and fairness in the evaluation of articles.

The following are the stages in the peer review process at An-Nuha: Journal of Social & Humanities:

  1. Manuscript Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal's online submission system.

  2. Initial Editorial Check: The journal's editors will conduct an initial check of submitted manuscripts. This check includes:

    • The manuscript's suitability to the journal's focus and scope.
    • Completeness of documents and manuscript format.
    • Plagiarism level using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin or iThenticate). A maximum similarity threshold is usually set (e.g., below 20%).
    • Writing quality and language clarity.

If the manuscript does not meet the initial criteria, the editor has the right to reject the manuscript without going through the peer review process.

  3. Reviewer Assignment: If the manuscript passes the initial check, the editor will assign at least two reviewers who are experts in the field relevant to the manuscript's topic. The editor will consider:

    • The reviewer's expertise and reputation in their field.
    • The reviewer's experience in conducting peer reviews.
    • Potential conflicts of interest between the reviewer and the author.
  4. Reviewer Evaluation: Reviewers will conduct an independent review of the manuscript and provide an assessment based on established criteria, such as:

    • Significance and originality of the research.
    • Research methodology used.
    • Data analysis and interpretation of results.
    • Clarity and coherence of writing.
    • Compliance with the journal's format.

Reviewers will provide recommendations to the editor, namely:

    • Accept: The manuscript is accepted without revisions. (This decision is rare.)
    • Accept with Minor Revisions: The manuscript is accepted on the condition that the author makes minor revisions.
    • Accept with Major Revisions: The manuscript is considered for acceptance after the author makes major revisions.
    • Reject: The manuscript is rejected for publication.
  5. Editorial Decision: The editor will consider the recommendations from the reviewers and make the final decision. The editor's decision is final.

  6. Author Revision: If the manuscript requires revisions, the author will be given time to make revisions according to the reviewers' suggestions and comments. The author must provide a response to each reviewer comment and explain the changes made.

  7. Re-review: After the author makes revisions, the editor may send the revised manuscript back to the same reviewers for re-review, especially if the revisions are significant.

  8. Publication: If the manuscript has met all the requirements and is approved by the editor, the manuscript will be processed for publication in the journal.

Review Time:

The time required for the peer review process can vary, but it usually ranges from 4 to 12 weeks, depending on the number of submitted manuscripts and reviewer availability.

Peer Review Ethics:

An-Nuha: Journal of Social & Humanities upholds the ethics of peer review, including:

  • Confidentiality of author and reviewer identities.
